Kumusta po kayo! Man it’s only been 3 days here at the MTC and it’s
felt like I’ve been here for like a week. Time is weird man. Anyway
I’m loving it here. I’m so glad to be a missionary, it’s literally the
greatest thing in this world.
So I have 6 elders in my district. Elder Houston is my companion, and
he’s also from Houston lol. Great guy, has a strong testimony. The
others is Elder Reignhart, and Elder Roberts, who is our DL. And the
last 2 are Elder Park and Elder Blackwell. We’re really tight already
and it’s fun to be together!
Our zone leaders are Elder Butterfield and Elder Alger, super cool
dudes haha. Even though they’ve only been here 3 weeks longer than I
have, it’s crazy to see how mature they are, as well as how they know
a lot more Tagalog than I know.
Lemme just say one thing, Tagalog is a GRIND! And also ps, you know
how I told all of you that I was gonna 8 weeks? Yeah I was wrong...
I’m actually only here for 6... I’m SO stressed now hahaha. But only
in the few days that I have been here, I can feel the power of the
gift of tongues already in effect. It so cool to see how much you can
pick up if you are diligent in what you study. The spirit is amazing
here, it’s hard to describe.
The food here is decent. Not to bad, not to good. But I can understand
why you can gain weight while you’re here lol. Stress + plenty of food
is not a good combo.
We met our branch presidency last night. President Dahl is a great
man. You can just feel the love he has for us. You can feel it in the
way that he talks, and looks at you. His 1st counselor is Brother
Bushell, and 2nd counselor is Brother Davies. They can really feel
that they are called of God.
Like I said, being a missionary is the best ever. It’s the most
important work is this world. I can feel my love for the Philippines
grow stronger everyday, and I feel the love that our Heavenly Father
has for all us. Jesus Christ is our Savior, it’s amazing to be able to
bear his name, to be able to be his servant, and to be able to give 2
Years of my life to him because he’s given his life for me and all of
us. This gospel is true and I know it with all my heart. Talk to y’all
next week
P.s. no pics this week cause I haven’t taken any haha
Love,
Elder Haws
