June 30, 2019 (Week 15)
HELLO FRIENDS AND FAM! This week has been the fastest week in my life I swear. This week just flew by its kinda hard to remember everything that went on, but I'll try my best.
This week was like the last, more punting. It felt like we couldn't land a lesson to save our lives. I got really fed up some nights. Its tough sometimes, but I really love being here. Serving the Lord is the best!
The most exciting part of the week was hanging out with the drunks. I love the drunk here lol. Theyre the best source of entertainment here. Whenever they pull up they always talk in really bad english, and offer you a shot. We always pull out TC cards and they put them in their wallets or their phone cases. Its lit. We met this guy named david at our investigators house. He was so wasted. He kept thanking us for visiting him. That was probably the best thing that this happened this week.
This week we really focused on the Book of Mormon. I was able to share my testimony about it a lot. I know that it's true with all my heart. I feel the power every time I read it. It has changed my life.
Love y'all. Have a good week!

The Godfather
June 23, 2019 (Week 14)
Well, Family and Friends. Its been another week. And this one... was interesting, to say the least. But it's all well in the Philippines.
So this was my 1st week to leading my area here in Santiago. And it was my 1st week with Elder Adams. It was a good week, but we literally got straight punted from every single appointment that we had. So after a long week of not much success, I'm quite tired lol. But the Lord knew I needed this week. I can't even believe how much I've grown this week. My Tagalog has become... actually alright. With leading the area, I've been the one starting most conversations, and It really pushed me to talk more. I've probably learned more this week than all the time at the MTC haha.
There's not much to really talk about this week. The work was really slow, and finding was hard. But I'm hoping that this week it'll pick up more with Tag-Ulan coming in.
So about the Godfather. We were having a lesson with Michael Siazon, one of our people we're teaching. He owns a Tindihan, so we always get interrupted in our lessons. No big deal, we were still able to have really good lessons with him. So on Wednesday, we were teaching him, and the Babbler walks up. The Babbler is a crazy dude that always walks back and forth in front of our house. Nice dude, just crazy haha. So, he walks up and buys a drink, and starts talking to us about the Russian Government. He also tells us Vladimir Putin has 200 chemical weapons. So funny. He then leaves, we start laughing, and continue with our lesson. After 10 minutes he comes back and buys another drink. He continues on with his Russian talk and then says "I am the Son, I am the Godfather, I am the CIA". We couldn't handle it anymore. Elder Adams and I started busting up. It was probably the funniest thing I've ever heard.
To end, I just want to Testify about the Gift of Tongues. It is real! I can't believe how much the Lord has blessed me this week. He knows exactly what we need. He knew I needed to be pushed a little more to be able to learn. I saw his guiding hand this week as I was the man in charge. It was a tough week, but I'm so thankful for it. It's only going to make me better. Jesus Christ lives. This Church is True. If any of us are struggling, let us get down on our knees. We always have our Father in Heaven there. He loves us and wants us to come to him.
Love you all. Have a great week!

I fell off my bike lol
June 16, 2019 (Week 13)
HELLO. Holy cow I cant believe that it has been another week, and I'm finally done with my 1st transfer! This has definitely been the fastest week of my life! But its been a really good week!
To start off, I now have a new companion! His name is Elder Adams, and is from Honeyville, Utah. I've only known him for 2 hours now, and still don't know much about him, but I have a feeling he's gonna be great! Elder Christensen left this morning to Agoo to be a Zone leader. I'm so grateful for him and his hard work, especially here in Candon.
I started out the week with another exchange on Tuesday with Elder Revil. It was my 1st time with a Filipino. I was pretty nervous tbh, because He's fairly new as well, and I was leading the area. But in reality, we had a killer day. Started out a little rough, but we were able to teach some powerful lessons.
Wednesday was Zone Conference. We heard the Last testimony of President Bangal. He leaves June 30th, and hes so excited to leave lol. I'm so excited for our new Mission President, President Oldroyd. Its gonna be sick. We also heard the testimonies of the Missionaries leaving this last transfer. One of them was my Zone Leader, Elder Rennie. Way cool guy, and sad to see him go.
Thursday we had a Service Project. We poured cement for the beams of the house. The only tough part was that they don't have cement mixers here, all by hand baby. So you guess you could say my arms are jacked now lol.
So, I definitely dislike bikes now lol. So on Saturday night, we were heading to the Sales Family for a family home evening. We were riding our bikes, nothing new, without hands on the handlebar (weird flex I know). But yeah anyway I started to feel the front tire wobble a little bit. As soon as I put my hands back on the handles, my bike took a swerve to the right into a ditch. I tried to swerve back to the left, but I ended up over-correcting into the Ditch lol. Somehow I flipped over the handle bars and landed back on the road. No major injuries, just a scraped elbow haha. The Church is true. After, we had a really good FHE with the Bishop and Sales Family. So good, and I feel like the Sales Family is right on the edge of a Baptismal Date. Later that night, Elder Christensen got his transfer call. He was sad to leave, but the work still goes.
Yesterday we spent saying goodbye to everyone for E. Christensen. BUT, we were able to get 2 new people with a PBD! One of them was our Investigator, Micheal Siazon! Such a good guy! The other was an old couple, Ben & Josie, Such good people. This transfer is looking like a lot of Baptisms, and I couldn't be more excited!
This Gospel is so good. I testify that it is the only way to true joy and happiness. Jesus Christ lives! and Atoned for our sins. I'm so grateful for him. The Church is true!
Love y'all! Have a great week!
Love,
Elder Haws
